This is really brilliant and unusual stop-motion animation example. Take a look.

This one’s got a bit of the old ultra-violence, so be fore-warned. It’s all in a good bit of fun, though. No-one truly gets hurt. Videogioco, which means videogame in Italian, combines 2D drawings and flipbook-style action with a stop-motion filming process for a really unique, new take on a cartoon, action fighting sequence. The character (well, really just a part of him) moves across the paper getting stabbed, cut, hit, swallowed and kicked through the air only to be finally re-united with his body for a closing punch. The ending loops back to the beginning scene, starting the whole process, and cycle of violence, over again.

This is really brilliant and unusual stop-motion animation example. Take a look.

Bobby McFerrin demonstrates the power of the pentatonic scale, using audience participation, at the event “Notes & Neurons: In Search of the Common Chorus”, from the 2009 World Science Festival, June 12, 2009.

Bobby McFerrin

What Bobby McFerrin does is not an act; it’s spontaneous invention. He peers over the edge of the cliff, acknowledges the void below, and dives head first, buoyed by the element of surprise. Bobby uses dense rhythms, extraordinary scales, and complicated intervals that accomplished musicians and educators have studied and dissected.

For many people, the name Bobby McFerrin will always be associated with the first a cappella song ever to reach #1 on the charts in America, a feel-good ditty with an inspirational message: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.”

Bobby’s legendary solo performance and collaborations with artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and The Vienna Philharmonic have toured the world. For Bobby McFerrin, music-making is an unending quest. “Music for me,” says Bobby, “is like a spiritual journey down into the depths of my soul. And I like to think we’re all on a journey into our souls. What’s down there? That’s why I do what I do.”

Wow. Just beautiful and amazing. We are such an awesome animal in so many ways.

It’s not magic or some sort of genetic memory that’s needed to explain this. We’re all immersed in music and melody throughout our lives and our love of listening to it stems from our appreciation of things that please our ears; like the pentatonic scale. What pleases us becomes part of our musical vocabulary. The phrase ‘music is a universal language’ is very close to the truth, I’d say.

This is a absolutely brilliant demonstration of that.

Pentatonic scales are an ancient format in many parts of the world. People singing together without any pre-composition and learning is also a concept from the beginning of music. Perhaps jumping to indicate a pitch was used in Raymond’s Revenge, but the basic materials predate any form of recording including writing.

If you listen to children when they are creating their own music it is almost always pentatonic based. Bobby does a wonderful job demonstrating the scales innate presence in our psyche.

Greg’ s photographic style merges reportage together with cinematic lighting and composition.

Maybe you already know everything about him but I want to introduce to my dear friend, great photographer, director and amazing man Greg Williams.

In 1997 British-born Greg embarked on an assignment for the London Sunday Times Magazine incorporating his love of film into his photography. This project developed into his first book “Greg Williams On Set” (published 2001- Vision On), a reportage photo essay behind the scenes of the British Film Industry. to date Greg has worked as a “Special Photographer” on over 120 films including “King Kong”, “The Talented Mr Ripley”, “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Attonement”.

Greg’ s photographic style merges reportage together with cinematic lighting and composition.

His reportage on the last 3 James Bond films have led to the publication of his series of “Bond On Set” books. Greg also produced all the posters as well as many of the publicity portraits for “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace”.

Greg describes his time on film Sets as the ultimate photographic education. He learnt his lighting technique from observing many of the worlds finest cinematographers at work and today lights nearly exclusively with film industry lighting as opposed to strobe. He also learnt about giving direction.

As a portrait photographer he has worked with many of the world’s most popular actors including Catherine Zeta Jones, Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, Robert Downey Jnr, Keira Knightly and Daniel Craig for such magazines as Vanity Fair, GQ, L’uomo Vogue and Esquire.

In recent years Greg started shooting fashion, mostly for Vogue Italia, for whom he has shot several 20+ page editorials.

Greg has pioneered a technique he calls “Motos” or moving photos, with the use of the Red digital cinema camera. The still frames from this 4K super hi-definition movie camera are good enough quality to run double page spread in a magazine. By creating what looks like a still image the viewer is surprised when the subject suddenly comes to life. The world’s first application of this was seen in the moving posters for “Quantum of Solace”, seen on screens on the London Underground as well as in Times Square and on Hollywood Blvd in LA.

Part Name: Traveller In Time

Duration: 62 Minutes

Genre: Psychedelic, Chill Out, Ambient, Instrumental

Story

I guess this was a great trip for me, however some people do not understand why. Well, I did lose my left arm, but what the hell, I found out that I had a third arm. The invisible one. Since then I started to learn how to use my karma arm, and soon my skills were those of a master. It wasn’t a surprise to me when people started turning their backs on me, since I was considered to be a freak and mentally ill. Funny thing. I can’t tell them the truth, it would be like explaining the possibility of space travel to a goldfish. So I’m just trying to… Play the song and finish this journey.
